Resolution Operations
Monday 30 November 2009
Resolution has just completed the installation of 84 No Transition Pieces at the Thanet Offshore Windfarm. The vessel charterers at this point of the project elected to transfer Resolution to installation of the Wind Turbine Generators leaving 16 No Transitions still to install by an alternative installation vessel.
Over the last two weeks of November, Resolutions deck was transformed from “transition duties” to “turbine duties” and sea fastenings particular to the WTG’s were installed at her home port of Tees Offshore Base.
At the end of November Resolution sailed for the port and Vestas WTG marshalling yard of Dunkirk. The first load out of 6 No WTG components will take place for Resolution’s return to the Thanet Field to install the first offshore turbines before Christmas. Thereafter, Resolution’s deck will be loaded with 9 No complete sets of turbine components for subsequent return visits. The current WTG installation programme runs from December 2009 to August 2010 to complete the 100 No WTG installations.
