Workboats Fleet

Our vessels have been designed specifically for MPI Workboats and can fulfil a multiplicity of roles demanded by wind farm site owners and operators.

Below you can find an overview of the MPI Workboats fleet:

MPI Rosinante – MPI Rucio

Both MPI Rosinante and MPI Rucio were built in 2009 and were the third resp. the fourth addition to the MPI Workboat fleet.

The vessels are multi-purpose, shallow-draft symmetrically hulled catamarans. The high buoyancy reserves of the forward sections offer excellent sea-keeping capabilities, particularly in a following sea.

Twin Scania 750hp engines and water-jet propulsion provide excellent manoeuvrability, good performance (22kn) and low fuel consumption (200l/hr). The aft superstructure suits construction and O&M roles, with a large forward working deck and crane for self-loading from quayside, with all cargo secured forward for easy transfer to transition pieces.

1.5 significant wave transfer capability, ideal for inshore sites.

MPI Don Quixote

This multi-purpose, shallow-draft symmetrically hulled catamaran with raised wheelhouse giving excellent visibility above forward cargo, was built in 2009, and with her 20m one of the largest vessels in the MPI Workboat fleet.

The twin MAN 1,100hp engines and water-jet propulsion provide excellent manoeuvrability, good performance (22kn) and low fuel consumption (260l/hr) of the mould breaking 20m vessel. The layout suits various operational roles, offering a large aft deck with moon pool which makes her suitable for crew transfer, survey and diving duties.

2m significant wave transfer capability ideal for Round 1-2 sites.

MPI Altisidora – MPI Lucinda – MPI Sampson – MPI Trifaldi

All four vessels are identical and first of class for a new breed of UK offshore Wind Farm Support Vessels delivered in 2013 and 2014, are multi-purpose, shallow-draft hulled catamaran. Twin MAN 1,200hp engines and water-jet propulsion provide excellent performance (24kn) and low fuel consumption (260 l/hr).

The superstructure is attached with A/V mounts to minimise noise and vibration within the passenger saloon and reduce the fatigue of crew and technicians. The vessel configuration suits construction and O&M roles, with a large forward working deck and crane for self-loading from quay.

The vessels are fitted with a 690V 148kVa 4 star delta generator/transformer set particularly suited to construction and commissioning roles.

1.8m significant wave transfer capability ideal for Round 1-2 sites.

MPI Cardenio – MPI Cervantes – MPI Dorothea – MPI Dulcinea

17m Wind Farm Service Vessels built in 2011 and 2012.

Twin Scania 800hp engines and water-jet propulsion provide excellent manoeuvrability, good performance (22kn) and low fuel consumption (200l/hr).

The mid superstructure suits construction and O&M roles, with a large forward working deck and crane for self-loading from quay. All cargo secured forward for easy transfer by transitioin piece cranes/davits coupled with sufficient space on the aft deck for pallet boxes and small cargo.

These vessels are fitted with a 690V 148kVa 4 star delta generator/transformer set particularly suited to construction and commissioning roles.

1.8m significant wave transfer capability, ideal for inshore sites.

MPI Sancho Panza

MPI Sancho Panza was the very first workboat in the MPI Workboat fleet. She is a 2008-built 15m Wind Farm Service Vessel. The shallow draft versatile catamaran is the ideal inshore transfer vessel for the rapid deployment of tools, spares and technicians.

Twin Scania 750hp engines and water-jet propulsion provide excellent manoeuvrability, fast speeds (25kn) and a low fuel consumption (200l/hr). The forward superstructure suits various operational roles offering a large aft deck with crane fitted.

1.5m significant wafe transfer capability, ideal for inshore sites.

MPI Napoleon – MPI Snowball

The latest acquisitions of MPI Workboats, MPI Napoleon and MPI Snowball, were constructed at South East Asia Shipyard (SEAS) in Vietnam, which is part of the PIRIOU Group. These two Wind Farm Support Vessels were both launched in November 2013, arrived in Le Havre, France early February 2014, and were delivered to MPI Workboats on 13 February 2014. They service the wind farm industry in the North Sea and Baltic Sea.

These next-generation catamarans for further offshore operations are designed and built to BV Class and capable of working across European projects.

MCA CAT 1 certified, and with Twin MAN 1,100hp engines and water-jet propulsion, the vessels offer excellent manoeuvrability, good performance (24kn) and low fuel consumption (280l/hr). There is sufficient space on the aft and fore deck to carry a 10ft or 16ft container for ROV deployment. Optional forward crane is removable leaving flush decks.

The vessels are ideal further offshore and in 2m+ significant waves.
