CAD Designer (Engineering)

Engineering Stokesley

You will be part of an Engineering Team responsible in providing technical and operational support to tenders and projects for the transportation and installation of wind turbine components for the offshore wind industry. This could be projects driven by the UK or the Netherlands office. You will be involved in developing project methodology by creating deck layouts, sea fastening concepts, lifting / rigging plans, installation storyboards, vessel positioning etc. The work will be based predominantly using the Van Oord Offshore Wind fleet of purpose-built jack up vessels.

Projects vary in size, but typically you will be working on projects for a year before installation works commence. You will also be involved in Operation and Maintenance campaigns for existing wind farms. Liaising with colleagues on the vessel is essential to feedback lessons learnt and understanding what works best. 

Your responsibilities

You will be responsible for creating 2D and 3D drawings for our offshore wind projects within our Offshore Wind Department. Next to that you will be responsible for:

. Identifying clashes and clarifying operational issues ideally in a 3D environment by making 3D visualisations

· Contribute to finding efficient methods for transport and installation of the foundation and wind turbine componenents

. Developing and detailing structural steel grillages for the support of the components on the vessel

· Contributing to standardisation and optimisation of work processes within the drafting office

·  Contributing to the process of design and engineering of project specific installation tools and equipment

Job requirements

You are a driven and meticulous colleague with good communication and social skills. You are proud of what you do and really

emerging yourself into a project gives you lots of energy. In addition, you bring the following to the team:

· a completed technical education at secondary vocational level;

· Experience as a technical draftsman within the same or similar discipline (heavy lifting / structural steel detailing / vessel deck arrangements / offshore operations );

. Extensive experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor 3D.
