Side stone dumping vessels are self-propelled vessels that are typically used to install scour protection for offshore wind turbines and offshore rigs, to construct breakwaters or to install rock for subsea pipeline protection.
The vessel has four hydraulically operated side doors that ensure the controlled release of the rock from the vessel's bays. Side stone dumping vessels are capable of transporting and installing a wide variety of rock gradings, ranging from gravel to rocks weighing up to 800 kg.
The Jan Steen is a multipurpose construction vessel, suitable to be deployed for a variety of tasks, such as side stone dumping, rock installation by flexible fallpipe, cable lay and diving support activities.
